Roya Farhadi

I dyed my hair silver at twenty-two, and the city has never looked at me the same way since. Photographers stopped asking me to blend in and started asking me to walk - across crossings, past storefronts, up old stone steps - and I discovered the thing I'm best at: making a street corner look like a set. Most of my work happens outside, in real light, with real traffic waiting politely (or not) behind the camera.

Editors call my look 'city luxe' and I won't argue: I can hold a beauty close-up with red lips and round glasses, but the frames that end up on the mood boards are the moving ones - trench coat mid-flare, boots mid-stride, coffee in hand. I hit marks precisely, I repeat a walk forty times without complaint, and I bring my own opinions about styling, which the best teams treat as a feature.

Off set I read actual paper newspapers at cafe terraces - partly for the articles, mostly because it's the best prop ever invented - and I maintain the city's most documented trench coat. Tehran taught me everything I know about light between buildings. I travel happily, but I always come home to shoot the golden hour here.
