About
Editorial & Runway Model
Vivienne Cross
I was scouted at a gallery opening in Shoreditch, holding a glass of wine I couldn't afford, wearing a coat I'd made myself. The scout said I had a face for black and white. Eight years, four fashion capitals, and a few hundred rolls of film later, I've built a career out of exactly that - work that strips away colour and noise until only the shape of a thing remains.
My work leans graphic: hard light, clean lines, clothes with architecture in them. Casting directors book me for editorials that need stillness and shows that need someone unbothered by the pace backstage. I walk quickly, I hold a pose like a held breath, and I've never once missed a call time - a record I defend more fiercely than any cover.
Off duty I'm quieter than my portfolio suggests. I develop my own film in a bathroom I've blacked out with gaffer tape, collect postcards of old Hollywood portraits, and spend Sundays at the cinema watching anything shot in monochrome. The dramatics stay on set. Mostly.
